ZoonCabs Blog
The ZoonCabs Blog is where ZoonCabs, a business-to-business transport supplier in Srinagar, writes down what it knows about Kashmir's roads, seasons, vehicles and prices for the travel agencies, tour operators, hotels and companies that sell the trips. Every post answers one question a travel business asks, with distances, times and dates rather than adjectives, and none of them quote a fare.

Summary: what this blog is and who it is for
- What it is. This blog is the working notes of a Srinagar transport company: distances, driving times, road closures, vehicle choices and pricing shapes, written by the people who dispatch the vehicles.
- Who it is for. Travel agents and tour operators, destination management companies, hotels and corporate travel desks that sell or arrange Kashmir trips. Not travellers.
- What it never does. Quote a fare. ZoonCabs shows rates only inside a registered agency's account, so the posts explain what moves a price rather than the price.
- How to use it. Six shelves below, one per kind of question. Each post answers one question in its first paragraph, then gives the detail, and ends with the questions agencies ask.
What each shelf answers
| Category | The question it answers | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| Routes and drives | How far, how long, which road, plus what the day needs | 3 |
| Places | What a place is for, how much of a day it takes, where the vehicle stops | 3 |
| Seasons and closures | What closes, what stays open, and writing a package that survives it | 3 |
| Vehicles and groups | Which vehicle, how many, and where the roads allow it | 2 |
| For travel businesses | Choosing, questioning and working with a valley transport supplier | 4 |
| Pricing and quotes | What a transport figure includes, what moves it, quoting it on | 3 |
Route posts: every drive, with distance and time
ZoonCabs runs these roads every day, and the posts on this shelf are the dispatch desk's view of them: Srinagar to Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, the two roads in from Jammu, and Katra after the yatra. Each gives the distance, the door-to-door time an itinerary should carry, the stops worth making, and how each season changes the road.
Katra to Srinagar by Road
About 230 km and seven hours. Why it goes the day after the yatra, not the descent day, then building the package around it.
Jammu to Srinagar: Highway or Mughal Road
Two roads into the valley. One is longer and open all year; the other is shorter, better, and shut for months.
Srinagar to Gulmarg: Distance and Driving Time
About 52 km each way, and longer than the distance suggests. Why a day trip and an overnight are genuinely different trips.
Place posts: one destination at a time
One post per place a Kashmir itinerary is built from: Doodhpathri, Yusmarg, the day trips out of Srinagar, and how many days the valley needs. ZoonCabs writes them for the agency choosing what to sell, so each says what the place is for, how much of a day it takes, where the vehicle stops and where ponies or local vehicles take over.
Srinagar to Doodhpathri: The Meadow Nobody Plans
About 42 km and under two hours. The meadow, the round trip, the season, and why it rescues a package with a spare day.
Srinagar to Yusmarg: Forest, Lake and Shrine
About 47 km and two hours. Charar-i-Sharief on the way, Nilnag lake from the meadow, and how it compares with Doodhpathri.
Day trips from Srinagar: the ones worth the drive
Nine day trips from Srinagar with real driving times, including the three that almost nobody plans and everybody remembers.
Season posts: closures, peaks and the yatra
Kashmir's roads change with the calendar, and a package written in June's terms fails in January. This shelf covers winter closures and the Gulmarg climb in snow, tulip season in April, and the Amarnath Yatra convoys in July and August, with what ZoonCabs dispatch does on each and what an agency should build into the itinerary.
Amarnath Yatra Transport: Routes and Rules
The two roadheads, what pilgrims carry, convoy timings that bind every vehicle on the road, and planning the days. Check the year's notification.
Tulip Season in Srinagar: Book Transport Early
Late March into April. Hotels sell out first, then transport. When to book the vehicle and running the gardens day.
Winter Transport in Kashmir
What stays open, what closes, why the vehicle is an SUV whatever the headcount, and writing the package so a closure is a change of plan.
Vehicle posts: sizing a party and moving a group
Sedan, Innova or tempo traveller is decided by luggage and roads before headcount. These posts explain how ZoonCabs sizes a vehicle for a party, when a family of seven needs two vehicles, how groups of twelve to forty are moved as one booking, and which meadow roads a tempo traveller cannot take.
Group Transport in Kashmir: 12 to 40 People
Which vehicles exist, the usual mixes by party size, keeping families together, the escort's SUV, and one voucher for the lot.
Innova or Tempo Traveller for a Kashmir Family?
Decided by luggage and roads, not headcount. The awkward number, and when the answer is two vehicles.
Agency posts: working with a Kashmir supplier
ZoonCabs supplies agencies and operators, DMCs, hotels and companies, and never travellers. The posts here are the practical side of that relationship: what to ask any Kashmir supplier, whether Uber changes anything, what a white-label booking site has to do, and how long a Kashmir trip should be.
Is Uber Available in Srinagar? What Works Instead
Yes, since January 2024. What the apps are good for, the six gaps they leave for an agency package, and what agencies use instead.
White-Label Booking Sites for Kashmir Agents
What white label has to mean, eight things to check before signing, plus what the ZoonCabs storefront does and does not do.
Questions to Ask a Kashmir Transport Supplier
Six questions worth asking a Kashmir transport supplier — and what a good answer sounds like.
How many days do you need in Kashmir?
Three days covers Srinagar and one valley. Five is the first length that stops feeling rushed. Here is what each adds.
Pricing posts: the shape of a quote, without the number
No rates are published anywhere on the ZoonCabs site; registered agencies see them in their account. What this shelf explains instead is the shape of the number: what an all-inclusive Kashmir fare covers, the lines that grow on the last day, how a five-day package is built leg by leg, and where an agency's markup and contingency go.
Kashmir Cab Fares Explained
The seven things every supplier should answer, the lines that grow on the last day, and what all-inclusive means on ZoonCabs.
Pricing Kashmir Transport into a Package
The cost line, the markup, what to quote separately, the contingency for closed roads, and the cancellation schedule passed through.
What Goes Into a 5-Day Kashmir Taxi Package Quote
The five days, how each is priced, what is inside the figure and what is not, and the five things that move the number.
Frequently asked questions about this blog
Who writes the ZoonCabs Blog?
ZoonCabs, a business-to-business transport supplier based in Srinagar and run by Holiday Formula since 2022. The posts come from the people who price the routes and dispatch the vehicles, so the distances, times and road conditions are the ones the dispatch desk plans around. Where a post has a named author, the name appears under its title.
Who is the blog written for?
Tour operators and travel agencies, destination management companies, hotels and corporate travel desks that sell or arrange Kashmir trips. The posts say what a client should be told, what to build into a quote and what dispatch will do. They are not written for travellers, who book through one of those businesses.
Does the blog publish taxi fares or rate lists?
No. ZoonCabs shows rates only inside a verified agency's account, because they are the agency's margin and its clients should not be able to look them up. The pricing posts explain what an all-inclusive fare includes and what moves the number, so a quote can be read and compared, without the number itself.
How current are the road and season posts?
Each post shows the day it was published and the day it was last changed, and the schema carries the same two dates. Seasonal posts are re-checked before their season: tulips before March, the Amarnath Yatra against the Shrine Board's notification before May, winter closures before December. Road facts that change, such as the Sonamarg closure, are hedged as seasonal rather than dated.
Can an agency ask for a topic?
Yes. Partnerships take requests on WhatsApp or by email from the contact page, and questions that several agencies ask become posts. A good request is a specific question, such as whether a tempo traveller can reach a particular meadow in October, rather than a general subject.
